Research, Partners, and Knowledge Network

We work closely with several international R&D communities and organizations and like to involve our customers in innovation projects.

We are proud to have a number of strong partners and projects within research, development, and innovation.

The eye@home Project

For all the talk of smart homes and the Internet of Things: Today's home Wi-Fi barely keeps up with the use and needs here and now. It definitely does not deliver the stable and reliable access required to be able to roll out, as an example, more health technology in the home.

The eye@home project was started as part of the development and alignment of service platform EyeSaaS and the service EyeSaaS Pearl.

The goal of EyeSaaS Pearl is to put ISPs in a position to develop tomorrow's services, adapted to users ' needs. We want to do this by giving them the tools to collect and interpret large amounts of data in real time. The main project partners in eye@home were:

Thanks to Enivest's close relationship with their clients and our close cooperation with AirTies, this project gathers representatives for all parties in the home Wi-Fi value chain. A select group of Enivest customers were equipped with AirTies access points with mesh technology. The access points are managed with EyeSaaS Pearl, available for technical staff and support in Enivest for increased insight into the home networks. In collaboration with the other project partners, Eye Networks has explored data quality, data requirements, and how data can be transformed into information that can form the basis of decisions.

The SCOTT Project

Creating trust in wireless solutions and increasing their social acceptance are the goals of the European project SCOTT — Secure COnnected Trustable Things. SCOTT gathers 57 key partners from 12 countries (EU and Brazil) through EU's Ecsel Joint undertaking, and will provide comprehensive cost-efficient solutions of wireless, end-to-end secure, trustworthy connectivity and interoperability.

SCOTT will not just deal with ' things that are connected ', but with ' trustable things that securely communicate ' — that is, things interconnected by dependable wireless technology that values the end-users ' privacy rules. EyeSaaS has taken the lead on "Managed Wi-Fi for trustable Services", expecting that future applications need much stricter security and privacy requirements than today. Examples of such applications are alarm services in the home, health services, and software updates for safety-critical devices such as cars. We expect that our involvement, together with the 7 other Norwegian partners, will lead to a showcase on Managed Wi-Fi.

IoTSec.no Initiative

IotSec— Security in IoT for Smart Grids — was established in 2015 to promote the development of a safe and secure ... infrastructure for electricity ... IoT (Internet of Things).

The research project IoTSec has received funding from the Research Council of Norway to contribute to a safe information society. IoTSec addresses the basic need for a reliable and efficient power grid with no disruption, with dynamic configuration and security capabilities. It also addresses the needs of companies and users for new IoT services, by exploring use cases for value-adding services. The intention is to design building blocks for future services; services that take all necessary security and privacy considerations into account for success in large-scale deployments.

Eye Networks joined the IoTSec initiative through EyeSaaS to provide expertise around managed Wi-Fi for smart home services, applications, and devices. Although smart meters will have the ability to communicate with the infrastructure of the home, most of the home electronics will be connected via Wi-Fi, where our services are relevant.

IoTSec's research will be used in the planned Norwegian security Centre for SmartGrid, located in a Norwegian Centre of Excellence (NCE).
